FAQ

What is a CMRA address?

A CMRA — commercial mail receiving agency — is a business that receives mail for its customers: virtual mailboxes, mail-forwarding services, shipping stores. CMRAs register with USPS, and their addresses are flagged as CMRAs in the address data that banks and payment processors check.

What is a non-CMRA address?

A US street address that is not registered with USPS as a commercial mail receiving agency. This one is a residential address with your own unit number, so it does not show up as a mailbox when a bank checks it.

Why do banks and payment processors flag CMRA addresses?

To a compliance team, a CMRA address says mailbox, not a place where a person or a business actually is. It is one of the most common signs of a shell company, so applications with one are often declined, or the account is closed later.

Is this a verified US address?

It is a real residential address in Florida with your own unit number, and it is not in the USPS CMRA data that banks check addresses against. The lease in your name is your proof of address, and a utility bill is available on request.

Can I rent a US address without living in the US?

Yes. All we need is a copy of your passport. You do not need a US visa, US residence or a Social Security number.

Will US banks accept this address?

It removes one of the most common reasons for a rejection: a mailbox or a registered agent's address. Banks and payment processors still decide on the whole application, so no one can promise you an account.

Can I use it for my US LLC?

Yes. Use it as the company's address with its bank and its payment processor.

Does it work for a personal bank account?

Yes. The address and the lease are in your name, so it works for personal banking as well as for your company.

What happens to my mail?

Up to 20 pieces a month are received and scanned for you, so you can read them from anywhere.

Can I get a utility bill at the address?

Yes, on request. Some banks ask for one alongside the lease.

Does a US address make me a US tax resident?

No. For someone who is not a US citizen, US tax residence comes from a green card or from the days spent physically in the US — the substantial presence test — not from an address.

Why banks flag CMRA and registered agent addresses

Non-Americans with a US company usually end up with either their registered agent's address or a virtual mailbox.

A registered agent's address is shared by every company that agent represents, often thousands of them, and compliance teams know these addresses. A virtual mailbox is usually a CMRA, flagged as one in the address data banks check. Either can be enough to fail a review, or to have an account closed later.
